It has been long since we did a post in this platform.We have been busy delivering some orders.It has come to our notice that house agents is a huge factor. Which you should look before you move in.We have dealt with them,the ugly,the good and of course the confused ones.

Agents Work

What is the work of the real estate Agent? For us your guess is as good as mine.But from what we gather. Their task is to  manage the property on behalf of the owner.Do not take my word for it. Actually how many honor that agreement of managing the property? They do not answer tenants phone calls. When there is a situation may are not present.Do they manage anything at all?

Who honors the agreement?

Firstly  they make you sign an agreement. How many agents honour that?. You pay your deposit and rent diligently.When it is time to get a refund issues crop up.Why do they not honour they part of the agreement?Since they have an upper hand and you don’t.Lately they have been emergence of some agents. Who give their tenants a weeks notice to vacate.Where else if the tenant wants to move out you have to give a months notice.

Kenyans on Rentals

With almost 70% of Kenyans on rental premises. The government should have laws to protect the tenants.For instance when a tenant fails to pay rent. They can have their house locked down by the landlord.What if the landlord fails to honour the agreement? Some promise you a clean environment, security,water.All that is a marketing goof.Where do you take them?Absolutely no where.

Hire Professionals

Finally many agents are not professional and do not have the required skills.This is a billion shillings industry and should be run by competent people.The fact you can speak Swahili and cook some English.Is not enough to be a house agent.

Cheers to the house agents who know their jobs.Well, shame on for those who do not do theirs.Tenants should be treated with utmost respect.As the saying goes the customer is the king.
